Gawk at hot chicks

We have a video of SFA’s Top Model here. We’ll have a story in the next issue, and a fancy photo spread with the winner in our August/September back to school issue.

Respect: Bobby “Boris” Pickett

The guy who sang “Monster Mash” is dead at 69.

OK, who’s got the best pun?

A lot of people in Japan got duped into thinking they were buying poodles, when actually they were buying lambs sheared to look like poodles. As the first commenter on this story noted, “This is BAA-BARIC.” That’s good, but I believe you folks can do better.

“Captain America arrested with burrito in pants”

The greatest headline ever has an equally great story to go along with it.

Never play beer pong with this guy

It may have taken a hundred gagillion tries before he got all this down, but the force is strong with this one.

Respect: Kurt Vonnegut

We make a point to mention every departed pop culture figure, but this one really hurts. One of America’s greatest authors has left this mortal coil. He was a beautiful, grumpy bastard who loved his country and hated seeing what was happening to it, and he was kicking and screaming up until the very end. I do not envy St. Peter this evening; I suspect he’ll have a little trouble with this one.

Breakdancing baby

That pretty much says it all.

Music and ghosts

The new issue is out, on stands and online. We’d like to recommend that you check out the super-keen video that accompanies the feature on ghost-hunting in downtown Nacogdoches. We’re getting crazy with the technology, brah. Check it all out at buzztexas.com.

Old school Texas music

Billy Joe Shaver shoots a guy who, according to his attorney, probably deserved it.

Easter rock

It is with great pleasure that I post this show flyer. If you feel like celebrating Easter by high-fiving lots of strangers to erratic beeps and bloops while some weirdo from Arizona screams high hilarity into a mic, then by all means, check out Treasure Mammal.
And that Adam Lamar guy is pretty handsome.

Fergie vs. Alanis

“Since I’m fortunate enough to be physically attractive, I’m going to dress all slutty and use my physical attributes to make men buy me things.”
That same song, performed by a female singer who is attractive but who became popular for exploring a slightly different side of the female experience (she gets a pass for not quite understanding the definition of irony, because ‘Isn’t it unfortunate’ would never, ever be as catchy).
And, just for fun, the first singer when she was young and innocent.
