Why y’all brutalizing me?

Make a cop wear those silly looking shorts and he’s going to seriously overcompensate when it comes time to do something manly, like take down some teenage skaterboarders. My favorite part is when he puts the girl in the headlock. This sort of thing is where stereotypes are born.

More on the Obama girl

She’s standing in the Texas Senate, apparently.

Use the farce

Robot Chicken’s Star Wars special is so much more fulfilling with pop-up commentary. Anytime you see a little TV icon in the bottom right corner, click on it for extra funness.

It’s Tuesday. Are you bored?

Ruthie Foster is playing at City Park in Crockett tonight. It’s free, but it’s BYO blanket or lawn chair.

Since we’re talking politics…

This girl loves Obama.

Civics lesson for the day

I know you kids don’t care much about the real world unless it’s on MTV (they still have the MTV, don’t they? Do they still do that Real World show? I hope so … it would suck if my “generation gap” example was outdated), but those of us who do pay attention to politics are proud to see that our newest state rep is keeping up the East Texas tradition of being labeled furniture by Texas Monthly.

Help us come up with a funny slogan.

People.jpg
A TV station in Tyler has decided to boost its ratings by letting a buxom “wrestling diva” pretend to be a journalist for some cheesy Fox reality show. Is it good or bad for journalism? Is it good or bad for Tyler? With all this in mind, “The eye of East Texas” doesn’t sound right. What should this station’s new catchphrase be?

As for me, when it comes to pretend female journalists, I’m a big fan of Samantha Bee.
(That’s an Associated Press photo, by the way).

Dear rocking public …

Sticks-and-Stones.jpg
We accidentally left this out of the June Buzz (sorry!) so we thought we’d take advantage of this series of tubes to let you know that Sticks and Stones will be performing “classic hard rock and British metal” at Jackson Hill Marina on June 30.

Somebody stop him!

Some elite boarding school graduate who uses his trust fund to prop up his “indie” band is trying to adapt a screenplay from a Bukowski novel. No good can come from this. Ignore the critics; “Factotum” was terrible. “Barfly” was bearable, and the man himself was in it. If you want to mix the man’s writing and moving pictures, go straight to the source.
