Sony has yet more trouble
So it came out Wednesday that Sony’s hopes for a worldwide launch of the PlayStation 3 have failed… not to my surprise, or many others’.
Sony had been planning for the PS3 to launch within days of each territory (Japan, North America, Europe) around Nov. 17, 2006. It was announced by Sony Computer Entertainment president, Ken Kutaragi, that the European launched would be pushed back until 2007, and the initial shipment of systems is to be cut back.
100,000 for Japan, and 400,000 for the United States.
My advice? Buy a PS3, eBay it, profit, buy competing systems. You’ll make a nice turnover profit, have extra cash in the pocket, and then later on you can buy a second-generation PS3 next year when it may be a little cheaper. That’s what I hope to do.
And another thing: Sony has been really pushing for all this hi-def technology. The system is to come with composite cables for system hookup (you know, the yellow red and white ones). This is not hi-def. To get that, you’ll have to go out and buy more expensive cables to get that great quality you may want.
Sony really seems to have become arrogant and lost touch with its installed user base.
