Sometimes I worry about the future…
…and then I see something like this and think to myself, “the kids are alright.”

“The message is clear. If you have sex, God will give you cancer.”
If you missed Stephen Colbert’s take on the Rick Perry/HPV vaccine controversy, here’s a clip. Don’t miss the bonus shot of East Texas’ own evangelical activist, Rick Scarborough, toward the end.
More things that weren’t in the February issue that you should know about
It's theater at its purest, for the purist. No stage extravagancies. No elaborate lighting arrangements.
Just sheer acting and playwriting ability presented in short doses.
The Angelina College Theater Division will present “Plays in Ten” beginning Thursday, February 15th and running through Sunday, February 17th in the AC Theater Lab. The series of six ten-minute plays will feature an acting troupe comprised of Angelina College students; and AC’s own David Raine, a published playwright, wrote some of the featured vignettes. According to Raine, “Plays in Ten” utilizes the ten-minute play format, which actually started at Actor’s Theater in Louisville, Ky. Actors and playwrights actually have ten minutes to present a story that has a beginning, middle and an end. “It’s really caught on to the point where they’ve had a festival for several years, where playwrights go to Louisville to present their work,” Raine said. “Here at AC we’re going to have an evening of six plays, each with a very basic set. You get a full story in a very short time; it’s fast-paced, it’s fun, and I know the audience will have a great time.” Raine and Sue Jones will direct the plays, all but one of which are comedies, according to Raine. The goal is to provide the AC Theater students with more challenging material than they would encounter working on a typical community production. Each show will begin at 7:30 p.m. Admission is $5 for adults, and $4 for children and seniors. For more information, contact David Raine at 633-04504 or e-mail him at draine@angelina.edu.

Don’t do drugs: #3112 in a continuing series
When you’re in the middle of a meth binge, don’t go out to the river and shoot nutria rats. Sometimes they’re people.

Very important scientific discovery
I never thought that much about how beer goggles work, but some scientists across the pond did.

East Texan on TV
We here at Buzz are not fans of white guys with dreads. So we were glad to hear about this.

Stoners declare war on freedom
First, Aqua Teen Hunger Force. Now, bongs are being mistaken for bombs. We may have nothing to fear but fear itself, but if you Mary Jane lovers don’t quit leaving your Lite Brites and smoking devices out on the street, we may have to declare martial law!
