East meets west
“The Bear Went Over the Mountain,” a compilation of autobiographical writings by SFA professor Charles Jones and Vietnamese artist Dinh Viet Luc, went on display Sunday at the Museum of East Texas in Lufkin. In addition to large drawings by Luc, the exhibit contains the hand-stitched, leather-bound book and its prints. The exhibit will be shown through Feb. 1. The two men were born on opposite sides of the world, however their mirrored lives of rural upbringing, soldiering in the Vietnam War and becoming printmakers and teachers, is shared in this dual-language book. I’m not much on war history, but it sounds kind of interesting. Check it out.
