What not to give this V-day

You’ve got one day left. Have no idea what to buy her? The experts at Gift Girl have some very important don’ts to keep in mind when trying to select that perfect gift. Follow these guidelines so you don’t end up sleeping on the couch.

  1. Don’t listen to her when she says “Don’t get me anything” or “I don’t really want anything.” She is lying. She really wants you to suprise her with something fabulous.

  2. Don’t buy her a pair of jeans. That is a battle every woman needs to fight on her own.

  3. If you wait until the last minute — ahem — don’t just fill the box. Put some thought into it.

  4. Don’t get her anything electronic, or any kind of appliance as the central gift. It can make a fun addition, but only if it reflects her interests or a guilty pleasure — like an ice cream maker for the girl who adores ice cream.

  5. Don’t buy her something you want i.e a lawnmower.

  6. Don’t give her exercise equipment. You’ll send her the wrong idea.

  7. Along the same lines as the exercise equipment, no gym memberships.

  8. Don’t buy her a shotgun hoping she’ll want to go hunting with you.

  9. Don’t tell her to just go out and get her own gift. The word lazy comes to mind.

  10. Don’t keep telling her how much you spent on the gift; it will make her feel like she isn’t worth it.
