La nouvelle vague

Recently, thanks to a friend, I became officially captivated with la nouvelle vague — the new wave. My introduction to this French film genre came by way of Jean-Luc Godard and his fabulous film “Breathless.” As the only period film I’ve seen — “Le Mepris” is en route via NetFlix — “Breathless” provided a cinematic transport to a time and place that I would’ve never otherwise known. The je m’en fou attitude by chain-smoking actors, paired with Paris’ beautiful architecture and the guttural sound of the French language, is intoxicating, to say the least. Take a look.
